 Medical & Health

The Club supported the development of Hong Kong’s medical services through working together with the Government and local institutions to improve health care services, promote primary health care, improve medical facilities, and provide the latest technology and educational facilities

  • donated more than HK$5.8 billion over the years to support the development of health care in Hong Kong, including early donations for the construction of Jockey Club clinics and health centres

  • donated HK$500 million in 2003 towards the establishment of the Centre for Health Protection in support of the fight against communicable disease

  • funded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine to promote safe and quality patient care and develop the Centre into a regional hub that excels in simulation based-training

  • donated HK$1.3 billion to the Chinese University of Hong Kong to establish a teaching hospital, the third of its kind in the city, to provide practical training and clinical attachment for students of its undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes as well as high quality and one-stop healthcare services in a transparent and affordable way targeting the middle-class to relieve the ever-increasing pressure on public hospitals

  • funded the establishment of the Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute, which aims to develop leaders and the next generation of professionals in this area as well as to enhance public awareness of disaster preparedness and response

  • launched the “Jockey Club Inpatient Facilities Modernisation Scheme” in collaboration with the Hospital Authority for the installation of over 520 ceiling hoists and over 6,000 electrically operated beds in public hospitals citywide, bringing a more personal level of care to patients and caregivers as well as raising the overall standard of healthcare services in Hong Kong
