In October 2006, the Suicide Prevention Services launched their Outreach Befriending Service for Suicidal Elderly with a HK$4.3 million donation from the Club. In 2013, the Club made an additional HK$5.34 million donation as part of The Jockey Club Community Project Grant for the three-year project. The Befriending Service includes home visits by professional social workers and trained volunteers who provide emotional support by listening to the elderly with emotional distress and helping them regain the will to live. The Community Education Programmes also help enhance public awareness of and concern about the issue.
