The Club launched the Environment Project in 2008 to support various worthy projects that raise awareness of climate change and other environmental issues. As part of the Project, the Club donated HK$54 million to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2013 to undertake a five-year community engagement programme entitled the CUHK Jockey Club Initiative Gaia. Since then, the Go Green Community – Jockey Club Carbon Reduction Partnership Scheme has been launched to engage local schools and NGOs in reducing their carbon emissions. In addition, The Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change - the first of its kind in Hong Kong – opened in December 2013.
